I’M ON A ROLL WITH UPLIFTING BAKE OFF
AFTER a pretty fallow few weeks, the TV networks are pulling out their big guns for the autumn schedule.
After the launch of a new series of Strictly on the BBC last week, it was the turn of Channel 4 to get the Bake Off tent back up and running.
Why watching a dozen strangers struggle to get a sponge to rise or icing to stick is such compelling viewing, I don’t know.
But I felt my soul lift as Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith cast their critical eyes over plates and plates of mini rolls. With such a horrible year behind us, there’s something very comforting about nice, wholesome telly where decent people try to excel and even their competitors are supportive.
That’s Tuesday nights sorted for months!
