Griffiths out of order kicking smoke bomb and actions have piled more pressure on Dundee

-

I WAS working for Premier Sports during Wednesday’s League Cup quarter-final between Dundee and St Johnstone at Dens Park. Leigh Griffiths had no business getting himself involved in a situation. Yes, he had been getting some abuse during the game and was obviously disappointed his team had fallen behind, but kicking a smoke bomb could have had led to something more serious. In hindsight, he should have left the flare well alone. He’s since recognised that and apologised the following day. We shouldn’t forget the idiot who threw the smoke bomb on in the first place and, hopefully, he can be identified. This reckless behaviour can cause serious harm.

Griffiths has now brought more pressure on himself and his club. If he receives a ban, then this can only damage Dundee’s prospects. He is an important player to manager James McPake and with that comes responsibility.
