FRENCH FEAST TO SAVOUR AT LONGCHAMP...

-

SIX terrific Group One races at Longchamp today that revolve around an intriguing Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at 3.05 this afternoon. The action in Paris in one of the best weekends of the racing year so here’s a quick guide on what’s on offer…

It all starts at 1.15 with the Prix Marcel Boussac and runners from Britain and Ireland have plundered this prize in five of the last seven occasions, but the challenge looks slightly weaker than usual this year. ZELLIE (10-1) makes the most appeal after being narrowly beaten the last twice in Group company for Andre Fabre.

The 1.50 is the Prix Jean-Luc Lagarde over seven furlongs and the British challenge looks stronger here. Soft conditions will play into the hands of ANGEL BLEU (13-2).

Next up is the Arc, the main event at 3.05 and HURRICANE LANE (4-1) could make history and be the first horse to do the St Leger and Arc double.

Tarnawa has had a lovely preparation when second to St Mark’s Basilica in the Irish Champion Stakes and Dermot Weld’s mare is the chief danger.

SIBILA SPAIN (6-1) was luckless in a couple of Group Ones this season but looks a leading French candidate in the Prix de L’Opera (3.50), while GLASS SLIPPERS (92) looks primed to win a second Prix de L’Abbaye (4.25).

The last five renewals of the Prix de la Foret (5.0) have been won by the Brits and KINROSS (13-2) can make it a sixth successive win to hopefully secure a dream double on the day for Ralph Beckett and Frankie Dettori.
