£108,000 for a Louis Vuitton jewellery box? There’s more where that came from, Cristiano!

SHE has been waiting five years for Cristiano Ronaldo to present her with an engagement ring.

But at least Georgina Rodriguez, will now have somewhere impressive to keep the sparkler – if he ever gets around to producing one.

The Man United striker has just given his long-term partner a jewellery box as a gift. But not just any jewellery box – a £108,000 Louis Vuitton Malle Vendome trunk.

Standing 4ft 6in tall, it houses eight drawers for the 27-year-old’s vast collection of bracelets, necklaces and rings, thought to be worth £2.6 million. It also has a mirror and a bust for Ms Rodriguez to display her most treasured necklaces, including the £78,000 floral Giardini Segreti diamond necklace and earrings set she wore to the Venice Film Festival last month.

Revealing her gift on social media. Ms Rodriguez wrote: ‘I’m still speechless, Cristiano.’

Still, the eye-watering price tag represents just two days’ salary for Ronaldo, who is the world’s bestpaid footballer at £380,000 a week.

So should the Portuguese star find any more loose change at the bottom of his kit bag, The Mail on Sunday has found more ludicrous Louis Vuitton gifts he may be tempted by.

Just £143,000 will get a trainers trunk, which the designer has created for ‘stylish travellers’ to take their shoe collection with them.

A smaller version – made to house just a single pair of shoes – costs a mere £23,000 and features a transparent Perspex window to show off its contents.

However Ms Rodriguez is rarely seen without her stilettos, so might better appreciate a £135,000 Malle Horlogere trunk for her wristwatches.

Another £143,000 would secure the Malle Coiffeuse beauty trunk, described as ‘a creation to accompany our client in their everyday beauty routine’.

The football power couple are most likely already acquainted with the sort of five-star hotels that provide lavish displays of flowers in each bedroom.

But just in case Ms Rodriguez ever feels like taking a bouquet of her own on holiday, she may want a £4,450 Malle Fleurs trunk – a kind of portable leather vase which houses a water and soil compartment.

Described as a ‘romantic piece’ rooted in history, the ‘iconic’ trunk was first invented in 1910 for Louis Vuitton’s ‘very best’ clients.

Others items sold by the designer include a £37,000 afternoon tea box containing a glass domed cake stand. The company also offers a £42,500 Maison Vivienne dolls’ house which comes with two wooden figurines, worth £1,500 each, and three miniature LV trunks.

Ms Rodriguez was a £10-an-hour shop girl at the Gucci store in Madrid when she first caught Ronaldo’s eye. In a forthcoming documentary, Ms Rodriguez – the mother of the youngest of Ronaldo’s four children – tells of her hope of becoming engaged, saying: ‘It doesn’t depend on me... I wish.’
