HOW KAI GAVE BIG-TIME FOOTIE DREAM THE BOOT
NEW dancer Kai Widdrington has revealed how he turned down a lucrative professional football contract – only for it to be taken by England star Luke Shaw.
The pro, who is tipped to get to the final with TV presenter AJ Odudu, waltzed off to the ballroom after Southampton offered him a chance to join the team.
Widdrington, 26, said: ‘I wanted to be a football player, I had a professional contract with Southampton on one table and then the British dance champion had offered to dance with me so I basically had to choose. And I chose the dancing.
‘And then, the guy who ended up getting the contract instead is the guy that scored for England in the Euros final, Luke Shaw.’
‘But I was like, “You know I’m going to be a dancer”, and he’s now playing for Man United. Yes I turned down the chance to become a millionaire, but money doesn’t buy you happiness.’
