FACE MASKS TO STAY IN CLASS
PUPILS will be forced to wear masks in class following the October break after teaching unions resisted plans to relax Covid rules.
Current guidance means secondary school pupils must wear face coverings when indoors.
It was reported last week that leaked draft guidance suggested face coverings could be removed while in class but would have to be worn when between lessons.
However, ministers now appear to have delayed official publication of the new guidance and insiders say no date has been set for its release.
A Scottish Government spokesman said: ‘The Government’s decision to ease school mitigations is informed by the views of a number of stakeholders.’
