The 80s – Music’s Greatest Decade? With Dylan Jones

In 1980, the journalist (right centre, with UB40's Astro and Ali Campbell) was 20 and studying in London. Later in the decade he established himself as a cultural commentator on such iconic magazines as i-D and The Face, meaning he was in the perfect position to observe the era, its achievements, excesses and disasters.

Now Jones brings his expertise on the 1980s to this series, in which he argues that perceived wisdom about its music scene is wrong – it's not best left forgotten, but is in fact the most innovative period in pop history, and one that produced many new genres.

Throughout the run he'll be backing up his point via interviews with performers and musicians who were working at the time.
