Mike signs for a new club

HE’S just sold one club but Newcastle United’s former owner Mike Ashley has joined another – exclusive London nightspot Annabel’s. It’s not easy to pass the high-society haunt’s rigorous vetting process, but perhaps Mike’s glamorous daughters Anna, left with her dad, and Matilda helped swing the deal. A source close to Ashley, who sold Newcastle to a Saudi-led consortium for £305 million, tells me the girls are now regulars at the Mayfair venue.

Mike will be able to enjoy events like last week’s £300-a-head feast with a menu inspired by the art of Damien Hirst.

Hopefully there will be no repeat of the infamous time that Sports Direct boss Mike drank 12 pints at a pub meeting before vomiting. Then again, if Damien’s pickled shark is on the menu…
