We want the headlines – not glamour
It was disappointing to read last week that the BBC pays £250 or more per shift for hairstylists for their women newsreaders, such as Sophie Raworth (below, self-styled).
Licence-payers want newsreaders to deliver the news clearly and efficiently – not to be glamour girls.

I’m glad the newsreaders have their hairdressers back. One ITV newsreader, and another on a BBC
East Midlands programme, are risking damaging their necks as they tilt their heads to keep a heavy fringe out of their eyes. It’s so distracting for the viewers.

If they have managed perfectly fine for the past 18 months, why pay to bring back the stylists?
