Seeding aim will ensure there is no holding back from Scots stars

- Derek McInnes

THE disciplinary situation facing Steve Clarke ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Denmark is so tricky to manage.

Of the eight players who are one booking away from missing the first leg of the play-off semi-final, you’d expect the majority to start.

And, in guys like captain Andy Robertson, John McGinn and Billy Gilmour you are talking about integral components of the team.

Players like Robertson and McGinn are wholehearted and won’t pull out of challenges. The same applies to a defender like Jack Hendry and also Scott McTominay if he’s fit to start either at the back or in midfield.

Knowing that we need something to get the seeding and the advantage of a home game next March I’d imagine Steve will go with his best team.

And then, if possible, he might look to make adjustments within the game depending on how it’s going.

The other big issue will concern bringing Lyndon Dykes back into the team. Dykes’ form in the campaign with four goals in his last four games, make him an obvious choice to return. However, I like the way Steve set up his team in Moldova on Friday night with two raiding midfielders tucked in behind Che Adams.

Both McGinn and Stuart Armstrong are at their best when operating with the handbrake off and they would give Denmark plenty to think about with their running power.

You never know how the Danes are going to treat the game. They have qualified comfortably and, while they will want to see out the section with another win, there is a lot riding on this for Scotland.

Steve has his team in a really good place right now so let’s hope things are about to get even better.
