CELEBS FOR SALE

(After tips) Judy Murray sells tennis for £30 online, which other Scots stars are cashing in on their fame?

THEY are some of the nation’s biggest stars. Yet despite earning a fortune from their roles in hit TV shows and Hollywood blockbusters, crowds of Scottish celebrities are now moonlighting by offering private performances to paying fans.

Actors, musicians and comedians – plus big names from the world of sport – are cashing in on their fame by charging to record personalised video messages.

Last week it emerged that Judy Murray, the Strictly star, coach and mother of Wimbledon heroes Andy and Jamie, had signed up to an online platform where she offers tennis tips and shout-outs for £30 a time.

Now we can reveal that she is only one of a legion of Scots who are touting for business on the Cameo site, where fans pay for celebs to shoot customised video clips which are then delivered via phone or email.

Scotland’s most expensive celebrity is Emmy award winner Brian Cox, who charges his fans a staggering £517 – to swear at them.

The 75-year-old Dundee-born actor won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Logan Roy in the hit show Succession, in which his character is known for a particular phrase.

In his video advertising his service Mr Cox said: ‘If you want me I will tell you to f*** off. Have fun and get in touch – and f*** off.’

Actor Robbie Coltrane, who plays jovial giant Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, charges £225 – although his fee goes to charity. He says: ‘I would be delighted to make a video for you for a loved one, all for a good cause.’

For £26 Love Island reality TV star Laura Anderson will deliver a personalised message. She urges fans to ‘get in touch’.

For a £74 fee Outlander star Gary Lewis – the Glaswegian actor who found fame in Billy Elliot – is available for messages. Fellow Outlanders including Graham McTavish also feature on the site.

Game of Thrones actor James Cosmo will send a message for only £38, and former Dr Who Sylvester McCoy is ‘really excited’ to deliver videos at a discounted rate of £73, down from £98 as part of a Valentine’s Day offer.

Celebrities whose star has dimmed also offer their services, such as onehit wonder Sandi Thom. The singer known for 2006 hit I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker is available for messages or musical performances for £26.

Actor Joe McFadden and comedienne Elaine C Smith feature too.

For younger audiences, Ayrshireborn Lilly Aspell can be booked for personalised messages. The 14-yearold, who plays a young Wonder Woman, offers to record messages, ‘even just to say hi’, for £34.

Sporting stars are also profiting from their fame, with millionaire golfer Colin Montgomerie charging £120 for a message ‘and even the odd golf tip’.

Rugby player Max Evans offered to chat and provide ‘inspiration and motivation’, and World’s Strongest Man Tom Stoltman and his brother Luke are available for messages.

Although users sign up to Cameo and can pay upwards of £500 for messages, some celebrities donate their fee to charity.

Olympic runner Eilish McColgan, for example, will hand over each £30 she makes from her videos to a charity helping young athletes.

One fellow sports celebrity, boxing legend Mike Tyson, charges somewhat more – an eye-watering £14,800 for a message.
