WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE . . .
...between myocarditis and pericarditis?
BOTH myocarditis and pericarditis are rare heart conditions – although both have been linked to a small number of young men developing them after a Covid jab, usually briefly.
In myocarditis, the heart muscle becomes inflamed, which interferes with the heartbeat and causes chest pain and shortness of breath.
In pericarditis, inflammation affects the outer lining of the heart – but the same consequences occur.
Both conditions are thought to be caused by an extreme immune system reaction, usually from an infection.
