Glass vows to battle on as Dons crash

STEPHEN GLASS last night pledged to stick it out at Pittodrie and warned Aberdeen that returning to the old days of chopping and changing managers will only lead to greater disaster.

The Dons crashed out of the Scottish Cup at the last-16 stage at Fir Park yesterday, losing 2-1 to Motherwell — with sections of the 2,000-strong away support targeting Glass and his players as they headed to the dressing-room at time-up.

The Reds have now had just one draw and four defeats in five games and sit ninth in the Premiershi­p, having also exited the Betfred Cup to Championsh­ip side Raith Rovers earlier in the season.

However, former Dons player Glass (pictured), who arrived from Atlanta United 2 to replace Derek McInnes last March, insists he will not quit in the wake of this latest run of bad results and believes there is enough within the side to rise up the table in the quest for European qualificat­ion ahead of Tuesday’s visit of St Johnstone.

‘If I didn’t think it was working,

I would walk away, but I think you can see the fight in the team at times,’ said the 45-yearold. ‘I think they’ve got enough.

‘Any time this club has done well, there has been a level of stability. If instabilit­y is the answer, we know what will happen.

‘I haven’t spoken to him (chairman Dave Cormack). I was in with the players. Time will tell.
