Australian actress Ms Bassett was last week photographed leaving Musk’s Gulfstream jet in Los Angeles, and friends confirmed they had been dating since shortly after he split from his long-time love, the singer Grimes. A source said: ‘Natasha has been seeing Elon for some time. They were friends first and only became romantic after he split with Grimes.
‘She’s gorgeous and could have her pick of men but says she adores Elon because he’s so smart and interesting to be around.’
The actress will appear as Elvis Presley’s first girlfriend, Dixie Locke, in an upcoming biopic about the legendary singer’s life. She also played Britney Spears in a TV movie.
Tesla and SpaceX tycoon Musk has a one-year-old son called X AE A-Xii with singer Grimes, 33. They split five months ago.
He has five sons with his first wife, the author Justine Musk, and married and divorced British actress Talulah Riley twice.
The source added: ‘Natasha has been working hard on her career and while Elon is chilled that their relationship is public, he’s very supportive of her wish to become famous in her own right, not just as Elon’s girlfriend.’
Forbes magazine recently named Musk as the richest man in the world with an estimated $233.6billion (£172billion) fortune.
