Yorkshire Ripper: The Secret Murders

-

ITV, 9pm, Wednesday & Thursday

Peter Sutcliffe (right) was found guilty of the murder of 13 women and the attempted murder of seven more.

But what if the Yorkshire Ripper was responsible for many more crimes than those for which he was convicted in 1981?

That’s long been the suspicion, and now, following his death in 2020, this two-part series considers the growing evidence for other murders. The cases include that of Judith Roberts, a Staffordshire schoolgirl who was 14 when she was brutally killed in 1972. The man who was wrongly jailed for 25 years for her murder, Andrew Evans, was eventually cleared and given a six-figure sum for the injustice.

But Judith’s family have never been given the closure of a rightful conviction for her death – and there are many signs that point to the crime being the work of Sutcliffe. ★★★★☆
