Tony Robinson’s History Of Britain

The penultimate episode focuses on a decade still in living memory – the 1950s. It was a time when Brits were told they’d never had it so good, with a post-war boom bringing plenty of optimism to the masses. Robinson’s (right) first story focuses on Irish immigrant Mary Powell, who became an NHS nurse, before moving on to the colourful life of rag-and-bone man Flash John.
