The Boss (right) has a huge army of fans on this side of the Atlantic who will no doubt be thrilled to see a documentary and a film dedicated to him this evening.

It begins with Bruce Springsteen: A Secret History, originally broadcast in 1998, in which the musician discusses his life and performs an acoustic version of Born In The USA in a bar in Asbury.

That’s followed by the premiere of Blinded By The Light (10pm), Gurinder Chadha’s joyous coming-of-age drama inspired by writer Sarfraz Manzoor’s experiences of growing up obsessed with Springsteen in 1980s Luton. Viveik Kalra plays outcast Javed, the son of Pakistani migrants.

Through his love of music, he grows in confidence, pursuing an interest in writing, asking out his crush and standing up against racism in his community.
