End of vaccine passports
VACCINE passports are being scrapped in Scotland from tomorrow – less than six months after the controversial scheme was rushed into place.
It means people will no longer need to provide proof they are fully vaccinated against Covid to go to nightclubs or attend large events such as football matches.
Since its launch in September, the scheme has been met with fierce opposition from the hospitality industry, which said vaccine passports were ‘devastating’ to businesses.
Last week First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the easing of restrictions. From March 21, it is expected that the legal requirement for masks in certain indoor venues and on public transport will only be guidance. The requirement for businesses to retain customers’ details is also expected to end on that date.
