Lemon pancake can’t be topped

-

A SQUEEZE of lemon juice and a sprinkle of sugar is the nation’s favourite pancake topping, according to a survey.

And with Shrove Tuesday – or Pancake Day – falling this week, millions are likely to be indulging in the simple treat.

Chocolate spread came a close second in the poll of 2,000 people, with maple syrup third, strawberries in fourth and sliced banana in fifth place.

The survey was conducted by OGGS, a plant-based egg and bakery firm, which estimated about 56million eggs would be used on Shrove Tuesday.
