Eve’s a star, but Winter Olympics left us cold

-

Many congratulations to Team GB’s women curlers on their wonderful achievement winning gold in the Winter Olympics. It’s been a long time coming for the team’s captain, Eve Muirhead (left). She deserved gold in the last Games and now she’s finally got the recognition she deserves.

This year’s Winter Olympics was just so depressingly bad. It should not have been held in Beijing in the first place, and when you add to that the lack of crowds and their Covid regulations, it was a shambles. For the first time in my life, I stopped watching it.

F. Stevens, Cambridge

It seemed bizarre to me that the Winter Olympics was held in Beijing when they knew that there would be hardly any real snow there. Where next? Africa? Fake snow is nothing like the real thing.

L. James, London

The Winter Olympics is only for the few who are able to afford to do sports such as skiing and figure skating. The funding given to these winter sports could really be used in so many better ways.

D. Murphy, Milton Keynes

Team GB women’s curler Vicky Wright is a nurse and worked throughout the pandemic.

It’s amazing that she managed to do this while also training for the Winter Olympics.

Mary Lee, Lancashire
