After analysing data, we know who’s boring...

-

ARE you a data analyst who enjoys sleeping and struggles with your weight? If so, there’s bad news – you’re boring.

A joint study by the University of Essex, the London School of Economics and the University of Limerick asked 721 participants from across the UK and US to give short descriptions of stereotypically boring people.

Researchers found those with negative outlooks, poor conversation skills and narrow-minded opinions were the most likely to be thought dull.

Physically, boring people were judged to be predominantly ‘plain, fat or old’.

Data analysis was perceived as the industry with the most yawn-inducing employees, followed by accounting.

Sleeping was viewed as the most boring hobby, followed by going to church and watching TV, but coin collectors, knitters and birdwatchers may also wish to keep their interests to themselves.
