It’s relief for Rovers as Poplatnik stops the rot for McGlynn’s men

RAITH ROVERS picked up their first league victory in three months after Matej Poplatnik’s goal was enough to see off Queen of the South at Palmerston yesterday.

John McGlynn’s side had not recored a Championsh­ip win since a success over Kilmarnock last December but ended that wretched run to reignite their play-off hopes.

Poplatnik scored in the 21st minute to ensure a 1-0 win and fifth-placed Raith are a point behind Inverness in fourth. Queens stay in ninth as bottom club Dunfermlin­e drew 2-2 with Hamilton.

The Pars led twice but were pegged back on both occasions by Dayid Moyo’s goals.

Coll Donaldson gave John Hughes’ men the lead at East End Park on six minutes but Moyo levelled on 25 minutes.

Steven Lawless netted a penalty on 52 minutes but Moyo hit back on 77 minutes for eighth-placed Accies.
