FORGET the gladrags – here is rocker Sir Rod Stewart in a high-vis vest helping workmen to fill potholes close to his Essex mansion.

The 77-year-old singer got stuck in after complaining that the state of the road near his £4.7million home meant he couldn’t even drive his Ferrari there without it being damaged and an ambulance even suffered a burst tyre.

Rod shared a video of his work on social media yesterday, saying: ‘This is the state of the road where I live in Harlow. People are bashing their cars up.

‘I’m repairing the street where I live because no one else can be bothered to do it! Me and the boys thought we’d come here and do it ourselves.’

He added: ‘Working for a living, filling holes is good for the soul!’
