Red Nose Day raises £42.7m

COMIC RELIEF raised a staggering £42,790,147 during the starstudded Red Nose Day show on BBC1 on Friday.

This year a substantial amount will go to help people in Ukraine and the country’s refugees amid the invasion by Russia.

Sir Lenny Henry hosted the television special alongside Dr Who actor David Tennant, singer Alesha Dixon and presenter Paddy McGuinness.

Comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders reunited for a skit with The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades.

Last year’s Strictly Come Dancing winners Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice were also reunited for the show.
