Rock Family Trees: The Birth Of Cool Britannia
BBC2, 10.15pm
During the 1960s, Britain was at the forefront of a cultural revolution in which the likes of The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Michael Caine and other working-class heroes made their mark on the world.
Thirty years later, it started happening all over again, particularly in terms of music – and this documentary examines some of the figures who emerged during the period.
The programme's host is Sara Cox who, fittingly, came to fame at around the same time thanks to her presenting gigs on such shows as The Big Breakfast and MTV Hot before joining Radio 1. She'll be charting the rise and rise of Britpop, paying attention to the connections between Damon Albarn's Blur, Suede and Elastica.
Mat Osman (brother of Richard), Brett Anderson and Justine Frischmann (right) are among those discussing their friendships and bust-ups. ★★★★☆
