Good lord! The photos that prove Bridgerton’s Charithra has ALWAYS been belle of the ball

BEING named ‘diamond of the season’ by the formidable Queen Charlotte may be the ultimate accolade for a Bridgerton female, but actress Charithra Chandran is clearly not a first-time belle of the ball.

These exclusive pictures show Charithra, whose character Edwina Sharma is awarded the diamond title in the current series of the TV hit, enjoying herself at a series of black-tie parties at Oxford University.

In the Netflix drama, the 25-year-old plays the love interest of Lord Anthony Bridgerton but finds herself caught up in a love triangle with her own sister.

Mirroring her onscreen character, Miss Chandran –who graduated from Oxford’s New College in 2019 – was caught on camera at a series of exclusive gatherings including the Oxford Law Society ball in Hedsor House in Buckinghamshire.

The 12th Century mansion, a popular location for film and television shoots, has also been the venue for parties hosted by Elton John, the Beckhams, George Clooney and other A-list celebrities. Wearing a chic pink dress, Miss Chandran enjoyed a champagne and canape reception on the manicured lawns of the 85-acre estate before sitting down to a three-course meal followed by dancing under the building’s Italianate dome. The event in 2017 also boasted an open bar and live music which was enthusiastically enjoyed by Miss Chandran, who was born in the Scottish city of Perth and read philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford. For the casinothemed New College boat party in the same year, Miss Chandran – whose first acting role came last year in the children’s spy thriller Alex Rider – wore a striking red cocktail dress

And at the Oxford Diwali Ball, where guests were treated to unlimited canapes, drinks, Bollywood music and live performances, Miss Chandran, whose Indian parents are doctors, chose a pink and gold sari robe adorned with jewellery.

Another high-profile event enjoyed by the actress was the Oxford Union Hilary Ball in 2018, a Mediterraneanthemed evening with a live flamenco band and silent disco where revellers listened to music on wireless headphones as they danced.

After graduating, Miss Chandran secured a job as a management consultant but took a gap year to pursue her love of acting.

In an interview she said: ‘I’d do more plays and rehearsals than studying… It was the best time of my life. I met the most wonderful, creative, open-minded people and it was where I was most happy.’
