WHY DIDN’T THEY ASK EVANS?

-

BRITBOX CRIME DRAMA

It’s been all quiet on the Hugh Laurie front lately, but there’s a good reason for that – he’s been adapting Agatha Christie’s 1934 novel and directing it too. What’s more, he’s called in some favours to boost the cast’s star quality. There’s no Poirot or Miss Marple here; instead, Will Poulter and Lucy Boynton (fresh from The Ipcress File) play amateur detectives Bobby Jones and Lady Frances ‘Frankie’ Derwent who, during a round of golf, discover a dying man whose final words are: ‘Why didn’t they ask Evans?’ Intrigued, they decide to find out who the mystery man was and why someone wanted him dead. Look out over the three episodes for performances from Emma Thompson,

Jim Broadbent, Paul Whitehouse, Morwenna Banks and Laurie himself. From Thursday
