STILL not a single long Covid clinic

-

LONG Covid sufferers in Scotland still do not have a single specialist treatment clinic, despite 90 clinics being set up south of the Border.

MSPs will debate the growing crisis on Thursday, but figures show that 130,000 Scots had long Covid during the month ending March 5, with 59,000 struggling for more than a year.

Writing in The Scottish Mail on Sunday today, Dr Sandesh Gulhane, health spokesman for the Scottish Conservatives and Holyrood’s only professionally active GP, criticises a lack of action by the SNP Government – despite its £10 million pledge to provide support services.

He said: ‘Scotland is facing a tsunami of long Covid but the Scottish Government is floundering.’

A spokesman for the Scottish Government said: ‘We have established a national long Covid strategic network bringing together clinical experts, NHS boards and those with lived experience to guide how we plan and design care.’
