CYCLING: Pfeiffer Georgi, the

British road race champion, was delighted with her ninth-place finish in the Paris-Roubaix classic.

Twelve months after Lizzie Deignan won the first edition of the women’s ‘Hell of the North’ for Britain, Georgi took the sprint finish for the minor places. ‘It was pretty crazy to be fighting for a top-10 finish,’ she said. ‘I wasn’t expecting it. I didn’t know how it would go but I felt really strong.’ The race was won by Italy’s Elisa Borghini.

GOLF: Tommy Fleetwood fired himself into contention for a first PGA Tour win with a flawless seven-under par 64 in round three of the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town. Fleetwood rolled in three birdies on the front nine and four more coming home, including an outrageous 60-foot putt from off the green at the par-three 14th. The Englishman’s eight-under par total gave him the clubhouse lead, putting him one stroke adrift of the halfway leader, American Patrick Cantlay.
