VARDY CAN’T INSPIRE FOXES
THE return of Jamie Vardy failed to inspire Leicester to victory as they were held to a goalless draw by Aston Villa.
The striker made just his second appearance since December after hamstring and knee injuries in a 0-0 stalemate at the King Power Stadium.
Yet Vardy’s comeback as a second-half substitute still offers a huge boost ahead of the Foxes’ Europa Conference League semi-final first leg against Roma on Thursday.
Leon Bailey missed a fine early chance before Ollie Watkins was denied by Kasper
Schmeichel but Leicester edged a forgettable first half despite not forcing Emi Martinez into a save.
Vardy rose from the bench but was unable to break the deadlock with James Maddison’s late free-kick the closest anyone came.
Manager Brendan Rodgers said: ‘We’ll have a chat with him a and see how his recovery is. We maybe won’t rush it.’
