Elected... ex-actress at centre of SNP love triangle scandal
A FORMER actress who was at the heart of an SNP love triangle has been elected as a councillor.
Serena Cowdy, right, will represent the party in the Arbroath West, Letham and Friockheim ward on Angus Council.
Her affair with the married Nationalist MPs Stewart Hosie and Angus MacNeil caused a Commons scandal in 2016.
Ms Cowdy, 42, married Mr Hosie in 2018 in Arbroath after he divorced his wife,
Shona Robison, a close ministerial ally of Nicola Sturgeon. Mr MacNeil had already said he was splitting from his wife before his affair with Miss Cowdy ended. Born in Peterborough, she was educated at Oxford before working as an actress appearing on nature documentaries. While based in London, she worked as a freelance for the Parliamentary magazine The House. She is said to have described Nationalist MPs as the ‘sexy Mujahideen of British politicians’.
