the British and Irish Lions, revealed his diagnosis on Twitter where he posted a message and a picture of him without hair as a result of his treatment.

‘Thanks for all your supportive messages that are helping me through my chemo for nonHodgkin’s lymphoma,’ he Tweeted.

‘I am halfway through treatment, which is going well apart from hair! Jenny (Scott’s wife), Corey (son) and KerryAnne (daughter) — can’t wait to be together late this summer.’

Those who have sent their best wishes to the rugby legend on social media include Scotland stars Chris Cusiter, Jim Hamilton and Tim Visser, as well as women’s team manager Bryan Easson.

Others include former England internatio­nals Brian Moore, Martin Bayfield and Phil Greening, as well as ex-Welsh stars Jonathan Davies, John Devereux and Rupert Moon.
