ACT THREE: LET’S CELEBRATE

-

THIS act of the Pageant is divided into twelve chapters, which tell the story of the Queen’s life, including her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947, while bringing to life her personal interests, including her deep love of the Commonwealth, love of nature and respect for all faiths. Horses and corgis will play a special role throughout. A Princess And The Dragon segment, created by arts group Trigger, will feature a giant 21-ft high dragon puppet – the size of a double decker bus – which will parade down the Mall.

Other spectacular performances will be seen from circus artist group Cirque Bijou and 90 young hip-hop dancers from Tottenham-based group Steppaz. There will also be an aerialist suspended beneath a vast helium balloon bearing the image of Her Majesty. Each chapter is spectacular in its own way, combining street theatre, urban dance, and the festival spirit encapsulated in the very best examples of Carnival, May Day, Mela, Fiesta and Mardi Gras.

A huge mobile oak tree will be seen, from which ribbons will emerge, allowing Maypole dancers to perform around it while it is on the move.

Daredevil BMX cyclists will perform stunts on a huge float, jumping on to Land Rovers driving alongside.

The plan is to project a vision of the future through fashion, music and the physical prowess of elite athletes and performers, both disabled and non-disabled.

The ‘Coronation’ chapter will feature a huge wire-framed structure of the Queen. The final chapter features a ‘Thank You’ dance paying tribute to the Queen and acknowledging the dedication of key workers during the Covid pandemic.
