Re- elected despite being twice sent to jail while serving as an MSP.

News of the World (NoW) publishes lurid allegations that Sheridan was involved in swinging, bondage and group sex. He resigns as SSP convener.

Sheridan sues the newspaper for defamation. Court of Session rules that claims of affairs and cocaine use damaged his reputation and awards him £200,000.

While on bail facing criminal trial, Sheridan appears on TV’s Celebrity Big Brother.

Sheridan is convicted of perjury after 12-week trial and jailed for three years.

Sheridan tries to clear his name and unsuccessfully asks the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) to return his case to the High Court. 2016 Another attempt to clear his name is rejected.

Sheridan challenges the SCCRC decision but judge rules it is correct and orders him to pay legal fees.
