Some ‘fans’ online are furious because Amazon’s fantasy series features some non-white actors. Others are up in arms because it doesn’t cleave precisely to the Tolkien source material.

Well it’s their loss, because this show is tremendous. Set thousands of years before the events of The Lord Of The Rings but connected to them, The Rings Of Power has spectacular set-pieces, plenty of thrills and some hilarious comic moments, and looks beautiful.
