It’s 1944 and three Manchester children are evacuated to a familiar-looking Yorkshire village. There they find new friends, the railway and an injured US soldier. Director Morgan Matthews peppers this sequel with nods to the 1970 original but slightly underuses Jenny Agutter (above right with Sheridan Smith), who returns as Bobby, no longer waving her petticoats but still a distinctly glamorous grandmother.
