THISTLE STAY PATIENT TO GRIND OUT VICTORY

PARTICK THISTLE moved up to second after defeating 10-man Arbroath 2-0 at Gayfield yesterday.

Scott Allan was sent off for the hosts in the 50th minute but Thistle left it late to record their third successive win as Anton Dowds and Cole McKinnon struck in the 86th and 90th minute respectively.

The defeat leaves Arbroath at the foot of the table and two points adrift of Cove Rangers who drew 2-2 at home to seventh-placed Hamilton.

Goals from Scott Allardice and Billy Mckay ensured a 2-0 success for Inverness Caley Thistle at Raith Rovers and moved Billy Dodds’ men up to fifth.
