The Capture
BBC1, 9pm
The first series of The Capture was already pretty impressive, but this second one has upped the ante to make it one of the best thrillers in years. Packed with twists and turns to compelling effect, it's sometimes dizzyingly complex, but all the carefully nursed secrets are at last set to be revealed in this thrilling conclusion.
Sunday night's nail-biting cliffhanger left us wondering about the fate of our detective hero Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger, Strike) and the political future of hot-shot government minister Isaac Turner
(Paapa Essiedu, right with Grainger).
To say any more would be to risk spoilers but be assured, this sleek, stylish drama maintains its quality all the way to the end – and how long will it be before someone considers the charismatic Essiedu as a candidate to play the next James Bond? ★★★★★
