WHO ACTUALLY GETS THE BOOSTER ... AND WHEN?

-

ABOUT 26 million Britons, including everyone over 50, are eligible for an autumn booster and will be offered one between now and December.

Invitations will be sent out via post, text message, email or phone – there is no need to contact your GP.

Once invited, book via the NHS website (go to nhs.uk and click ‘Find out about Covid-19 vaccination’ on the homepage) or by calling 119. Remember, if you’ve just had Covid, wait a month before having the jab.

Care home residents, social care staff and housebound people were being invited from last week. This week is healthcare workers, people aged over 75 and those with conditions that affect the immune system.

NHS England will announce the rest of the schedule in the coming weeks.

Vulnerable children as young as five will also be offered the booster. Five- to 11year-olds will be given the old Pfizer jab and 12 to 17 year olds can have either the new Pfizer jab or the original.
