Pay gap laid bare
Your article last week that highlighted the £8.2 million pay packet of Emma Walmsley, the chief executive of pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, is further evidence of the widening divide between the very rich and the rest of us. Care assistants in nursing homes, refuse collectors and teachers have actually earned whatever pittance they get, but can that really be said of Ms Walmsley?
