PARTICK THISTLE moved to the top of the Championsh­ip on goal difference but let a 2-0 lead slip as they were held 2-2 by

Cove Rangers at Firhill.

Steven Lawless put the hosts ahead in 17 minutes and Stuart Bannigan doubled the advantage seven minutes after half-time.

Ian McCall’s men looked to be easing towards three points but Mark Reynolds netted twice in the final 10 minutes as Cove snatched a valuable point that ensured they won’t be propping up the foot of the table.

Arbroath gained their first win of the season but stay bottom on goal difference despite their 2-1 victory over Morton.

Dale Hilson and Michael McKenna scored in the first half for Dick Campbell’s side before Lewis McGrattan pulled one back in stoppage-time for Morton, who sit in seventh.

Queen’s Park’s impressive start to the season continued with a 2-0 success over eighth-placed Hamilton. Simon Murray and Grant Savoury netted either side of half-time for Owen Coyle’s Spiders, who now sit third in the table, just one point off the pace.
