WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE . . .

...between the pharynx and larynx?

-

THE pharynx and larynx are structures in the neck. The pharynx is the upper part of the throat that connects the mouth and nasal cavity to the oesophagus, which leads to the stomach. The larynx is an opening off the pharynx that leads to the trachea, then lungs. The larynx is a muscular organ that houses the vocal cords and is often called the voicebox. Its walls are made up of cartilage, while the walls of the pharynx are made of muscle tissue.
