Writer Jeff Pope must surely now be acknowledged as the master of turning hard-hitting news stories into gripping television dramas. In this new five-part series, he tells the tale of the investigation into a plot by neo-Nazi extremists who wanted to echo the horrific murder of Jo Cox in 2016 and kill another MP.

The central figure is Matthew Collins (Stephen Graham, right), who years earlier had been a National Front thug but has turned his life around to become a leading anti-fascist campaigner and investigator with the group Hope Not Hate.

As the story begins he’s concerned about the threat posed by a new group, National Action – but how can he find out what’s happening inside their tightly knit ranks? The whole series is available to watch on the ITV Hub immediately after episode one. ★★★★★
