Now Soumillon faces the elbow

DISCUSSIONS about Christophe Soumillon’s future as retained jockey to the powerful Aga Khan string will take place tomorrow after the 10-time French champion jockey shocked the racing world by elbowing fellow rider Rossa Ryan off his mount at Saint-Cloud on Friday. Princess Zara, the Aga Khan’s daughter, confirmed that her father’s team will discuss the situation after Soumillon had won the Prix Wildenstein on Erevann on day one of the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe meeting at Longchamp.

Princess Zara said: ‘We will talk to Christophe on Monday. Obviously it is an unconscionable and unthinkable thing to happen, so as a team we are going to have a proper conversation about what to do.’
