WEATHER WATCH
We have now reached a date indelibly stamped onto the memory of weather presenters in this country – October 16, the 35th anniversary of the Great Storm of 1987. Whatever your memories it was a night of devastation across south-east England.
Model analysis has improved significantly since then and I would expect a far more accurate analysis of the track of such storms these days.
This month has already brought more significant rainbands as winds continue to sweep in from the South West but we are yet to experience a period of widespread downpours. High pressure developing across central Europe and significant rainbands in the Atlantic will ensure warmer winds draw in wetter weather in the coming week.
