Potter star Emma: ‘I’ll miss Robbie’s warmth’

- By Craig McDonald

EMMA Watson told of the ‘warmth’ of her Harry Potter costar Robbie Coltrane as she led tributes to the actor yesterday.

She spoke as fans of the wizard movies around the world raised wands in a salute to the Scots star, who famously played the much-loved character Hagrid.

Ms Watson, who featured in all eight Harry Potter films, shared a picture on Instagram taken during one of the actor’s last public appearances before his death on Friday aged 72.

At an event to mark the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special, the pair are seen looking fondly at each other. Ms Watson, 32, said there could be ‘no better Hagrid’ and he ‘made it a joy to be Hermione’, her character in the films.

She added: ‘Robbie, if I ever get to be so kind as you were to me on a film set I promise I’ll do it in your name and memory.

‘I’ll miss your sweetness, your nicknames, your warmth, your laughs and your hugs.’

Daniel Radcliffe, 33, who played Harry in the films, said: ‘Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly on that set. I feel incredibly lucky I got to meet and work with him. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.’

Coltrane died on Friday at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, Stirlingshire. During his career he appeared in two James Bond films and starred in hit TV drama Cracker.
