Grammar worked for me
Peter Hitchens wrote an excellent column last week about ending the disaster of comprehensive schools. Without my grammar school, I would not have been able to train as a teacher 60 years ago.

I do wish that Peter Hitchens would cease his rubbishing of comprehensive education. The fact that a fair percentage of students from comprehensives successfully apply for the best universities each year surely says something. Grammars are not the only places highly motivated students come from. Comprehensives produce them too.
