TIFFONEY ON CUE AS JAGS REMAIN TOP
SCOTT TIFFONEY came off the bench to net the goal that kept Partick Thistle top of the Championship and left Accies rooted to the bottom.
After Andy Ryan struck for the hosts early in the second half to cancel out Brian Graham’s opener, Ian McCall turned to Tiffoney to turn around his side’s fortunes.
And he did not disappoint, firing in the winner six minutes after his introduction.
Jags boss McCall said: ‘Scott has just come back to fitness and obviously it was a pretty special goal from him.
‘He was always going to come on — it was just a matter of when, and he did really well.
‘I thought Hamilton deserved something from the game.’
The opener came when the Hamilton back line failed to deal with Aidan Fitzpatrick’s free-kick and Graham slammed home from close range.
But the hosts levelled early in the second half when Ryan also netted from close range.
Thistle claimed the win when a well-worked corner routine ended with Tiffoney’s winner.
Accies head coach John Rankin said: ‘We need to defend better.’
