I miss my energy-boosting HRT
I have to disagree with the comments from Professor
Joyce Harper in last week’s
Mail on Sunday about HRT not contributing to your energy levels when you go through the menopause.
I took HRT tablets for 15 years. My energy levels were high, and I felt better than ever.
My GPs were always very supportive with my decision to stay on it, as I had to have a hysterectomy at the age of
40. Unfortunately, having just recovered from breast cancer, I can no longer have HRT and I must admit I have never felt so tired and lacking in energy. Everything I do has become a chore.
So I would definitely recommend taking HRT.
I do find that walking for an hour most days, especially around a park, really does lift the mood, and that is my medicine now for dealing with the menopausal symptoms.
Being 56 years of age doesn’t have to make you feel like an old woman. It’s all about your attitude to life and how you decide to live it.
However, I know so many people who are stuck in a menopausal rut, which is hard to get out of.
