TEST OF TIME FOR MULLINS
TOP trainer Willie Mullins has called for less time between races and it’s an interesting point.
When Mullins speaks, everyone listens. Thirty-five minutes between races is too long was his view.
He said: ‘Regular racegoers want to be entertained. They want racing at least every 30 minutes. I think racecourses need to see that it can be very long and when things are long they get too boring.’
It’s an idea worth exploring. Eight races per meeting is one too many and that would save time. It’s not just gaps between races that cause boredom. Too many races is a much bigger issue than the time gap between them.
